Be prepared to pay more for the iPhone 15 Pro Max than ever before

According to a note from Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, or possibly called the iPhone 15 Ultra, is expected to be more expensive than previous models. Pu predicts that mass production of the iPhone 15 will begin in August, and he expects Apple to produce around 84 million units across all models. Supply chain checks suggest that the iPhone 15 production schedule is on track, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to be more expensive than ever.

In a note to investors seen by AppleInsider, Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research has provided further insights into the iPhone 15 production schedule, anticipated volumes of assembly, and the potential for a price hike. Pu expects mass production of the iPhone 15 to begin in August, indicating that the schedule is largely on track, barring any unforeseen disruptions like those caused by COVID restrictions in previous years.

Low-volume construction of the iPhone 15

Pu also indicates that early low-volume construction of the iPhone 15 has already begun, and based on his limited details, it appears to be progressing smoothly. While he does not provide a breakdown of specific model volumes, Pu highlights that the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or potentially iPhone 15 Ultra) is expected to garner significant popularity in the early stages of its release.

Price Increase

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is anticipated to be popular in the early days, as historically, the "pro" models have higher demand in the first few months. Pu suggests that the price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max may be due to the inclusion of new features not available on the smaller iPhone 15 Pro. The expectation of a price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max aligns with historical trends. "Pro" models have traditionally been in high demand during the first five months after their launch, with the balance gradually shifting in favor of other models as the year progresses.

Unique Features

The speculated price hike for the iPhone 15 Pro Max is attributed to the introduction of new features exclusive to this model. Although Pu does not delve into specific details regarding the price increase, rumors have been circulating that the largest iPhone 15 Pro will boast unique features not found in the smaller iPhone 15 Pro.

Periscope Lens

One of the most anticipated feature additions to the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a periscope lens, which would enable a higher optical zoom capability compared to previous iPhone models. This enhancement would be particularly beneficial for users who prioritize photography and require greater versatility in capturing distant subjects. Additionally, there is a possibility of a new sensor being included, which could significantly improve low-light performance and enhance overall image quality across the iPhone 15 lineup.

It's worth noting that Jeff Pu's track record with product details has been mixed, with occasional inaccuracies. However, his insights related to Apple's supply chain have generally been considered reliable. Therefore, while the information should be approached with some caution, it provides valuable context for understanding potential developments with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

iPhone Four Models

Looking at the broader iPhone 15 lineup, it is anticipated that Apple will release four models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and their respective Max counterparts. The most significant rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 series revolve around display technology.

It is expected that all models will feature curved bezels, providing a sleeker and more immersive visual experience. Additionally, the Dynamic Island concept, initially introduced with the Pro models, is rumored to extend to non-Pro variants, offering users more advanced display features across the entire lineup.

Bid farewell to the Lightning connector

While the iPhone 15 is expected to retain similar display technology as the iPhone 14, with features like ProMotion and the Always-On display remaining exclusive to the Pro models, Apple might introduce notable improvements in other areas. For instance, there have been speculations that Apple will finally bid farewell to the Lightning connector and adopt the USB-C standard for its physical port, bringing the iPhone lineup in line with its iPad counterparts. This change would offer users more versatility and compatibility with a wider range of accessories.

48-megapixel cameras across all models

Furthermore, rumors have suggested that the iPhone 15 lineup could feature 48-megapixel cameras across all models, enabling users to capture highly detailed photos. The debate over solid-state or unified side buttons also continues, with some sources speculating that Apple might introduce a new button design that combines the functions of physical buttons with haptic feedback technology, enhancing user interaction with the device.

As the official launch date of the iPhone 15 series approaches, more information will likely emerge, providing a clearer picture of the features, specifications, and pricing of each model. Until then, consumers eagerly awaiting the next generation of iPhones should prepare themselves for the possibility of higher prices, particularly for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as it offers potential advancements that may justify the premium cost.
